Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Pigeon Pea (Toor Dal)
  • ¼ cup Chickpea (Chana Dal)
  • ¼ cup Split Black Gram (Urad Dal)
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • 2 Kashmiri Chilli
  • 4 – 5 Dry Red Chilli
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper (Kali Mirch)
  • 1 tsp Cumin (Jeera)
  • Pinch Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Salt to taste (Namak)

Instructions
 

  • In a pan, dry roast ½ cup toor dal on medium flame.
  • Remove from pan and transfer it to a blender.
  • Now, In a same pan dry roast ¼ cup chana dal on medium flame.
  • Remove from pan and transfer it to a same blender.
  • Furthermore, In a same pan dry roast ¼ cup urad dal on medium flame.
  • Remove from pan and transfer it to a same blender.
  • In a same pan, add the dry red chillis, curry leaves, black pepper and cumin and dry roast it. Remove and transfer it to a same blender and allow to cool completely.
  • Once the mixture is cooled completely, add salt to taste, a pinch of hing.
  • Blend to a fine powder without adding any water.
  • Transfer the Kandi Podi into an airtight container and enjoy with hot rice and ghee.
